Brendan Clarke in his third season in Super-League has stepped up to the plate and taken over the reins of the Koo Wee Rup Koalas. Having entered the draft the previous season, Clarky thought it was time to really challenge himself, by becoming a General Manager.
{SL MEDIA} What was your main focus coming into the draft?
{BC} Being my first season, I had no idea what I was doing. So my focus was to draft a team of mates and good chemistry.
{SL MEDIA} And do you feel you achieved that?
{BC} Yeah I do, I have three CBL teammates on 1 squad, so there’s chemistry already and I’ve played with almost everyone on my squad before and I am mates with most of them.
{SL MEDIA} How do you feel your franchise will go this season?
{BC} I feel we will be very solid and potentially can go all the way.
{SL MEDIA} Your franchise is sporting a new look, tell us a little bit about that.
{BC} Honestly, I had no idea what I was in for, but wasn’t worried as SESL jersey designs never let down! Looks Awesome.
{SL MEDIA} Which franchise has the best list? (aside from your own)
{BC} Haven’t had much of a chance to take a look at everyone’s squads, but blazers are looking deep.
{SL MEDIA} Who will win the MVP?
{BC} I’m going to back my first rounder and say Ambu!
{SL MEDIA} Who will win the DPOY?
{BC} Ambu has potential for both DPOY and MVP but wouldn’t surprise me if Trav Blackney pulls away with it yet again!
{SL MEDIA} Who will win the Steal of the Draft?
{BC} Unsure on this one, I don’t really know anyone that went late in the draft. but I’m hearing a bit about this Elton Bland kid, so potentially him or my cousin Nathan Collister. He was taken in the 6th round and could jump a couple spots.
Unless of course a second rounder can be a steal I’m going to say Michael Bridgman who fell late second round!
{SL MEDIA} If you could have one player from another team, who could it be?
{BC} It’s got to be Jeff doesn’t it? Having him alongside my squad I feel we’d be unstoppable
